Curriculum

Children are naturally curious! Our curriculum framework celebrates learning as a joyful experience and aligns with children's natural curiosities. It is based on the interests and needs of the children, providing developmentally appropriate practices for each age group and adapting to the needs of individual children. We embrace the philosophy that children learn best when they are actively involved in play and when that have the opportunity to thoroughly explore, question, investigate, and manipulate objects and materials in their environment. Our teacher facilitated play-based learning provides children the opportunity to work and play with other children to express themselves creatively through art, music, dramatic play and language, to communicate feelings and ideas, and to develop physical skills.

Throughout all that we do with children, we incorporated the goals of our state's early learning standards. We know there are recommended expectations for children's growth ad development of various ages. We try to help each child achieve their expectations at a pace that is just right for that child.

We use an assessment tool called Child Portfolios to document and evaluate each child's development. Our staff will carefully observe each child as he/she plays, works, interacts, and goes about his/her daily routines at our program. The observations will be documented and tied to specific developmental milestones that we have identified to be important to help us see how each child is learning and growing. The portfolios will be shared with parents at private conferences.
